Shariah Control Department

This department is dedicated to providing assurance on the level of adherence of the Bank’s activities with Shariah Board rulings and directives.

Together, these departments work in a complementary and coordinated manner to carry out the following functions:

  • Reviewing and preparing the Bank’s products and services proposals for submission to the Shariah Board for the necessary decisions.
  • Observing the implementation of Shariah Board rulings across all the Bank’s dealings.
  • Addressing inquiries and issues raised by the Bank’s employees and clients in the light of Shariah Board’s rulings.
  • Promoting the awareness of Islamic finance principles within the Bank and the wider community.

All these functions are aimed to serve the main objective of the Shariah Group: To contribute to the Bank’s strategy to remain as the leading Islamic Bank, by supporting the plans and policies necessary to ensure the Bank’s full adherence to Shariah-compliant Banking practices.
